The Daily Office and Private Prayer

Fr. Perren Hayes has posted an excellent article on the Liturgy of the Hours that is worth you time to read. It is important to remember that Fr. Hayes is writing from the Anglican/Episcopal tradition. Catholics will find his comments refreshing particularly when he says… “The Eucharist IS the life of the parish. Nothing else has any meaning apart from the Eucharist.” But his perspective of years of teaching the Liturgy of the Hours is helpful to Oblates and Novices alike.

  1. Truly an honest and true view of our resonsibilities as Oblates and Christians. Prayer seems to be ‘all’ and it is. Prayer takes many forms and God speaks in many ways to each of us in our need and in what is our practice. LOH, Lectio and daily prayer, silent or otherwise is growing and ongoing as it becomes the easiest form of listening and communicating with our Father.
