All Hallow’s Eve Treat

Trick or Treat!

Walt Disney’s original Fantasia was a classic mixture of classical music and animation. A bit dated by today’s standards it is still a beautiful use of the technology of the time. Children and adults are still fascinated by the movie. “Uncle Walt,” as so many of us knew him, was proud of the work until his untimely death in 1966. So, as a Halloween treat, here is the conclusion of the movie where the demons dance to the music of Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain and then are forced back into the shadows, defeated, as the sun rises to the music of Schubert’s Ave Maria sung by the returning monks.

Happy Halloween and remember, when all appears lost and the powers of darkness seem on the verge of triumph, the light will dawn and Our Lord will demonstrate his power, especially through his Saints.
