I have come to tell you that God exist

Mary-Theotokos-webDear children! Sympathize with me! Pray, pray, pray
Medjugorje Message, April 19, 1984

In all alleged apparitions of Our Lady, the main focus is on prayer. Prayer is an actual opening of the heart to God, allowing God’s love in and in praying for others we become one with the Will of God who desires in Christ Jesus, the healing and salvation of souls. If anyone prays, grace will take hold and the seed will grow into a tree bearing good fruit.

None of us is alone, we are all connected in the Body of Christ, and prayer makes us aware of that. One prayer that Our Lady asks for at Fatima is this one:

“O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls to heaven especially those in most need of thy mercy”.

It is actually a prayer of deep mercy and compassion for mankind, and not a judgment being voiced by those who say it. For the more God’s light fills our souls, the more we understand our need for mercy, which in turn allows us to truly pray with love for all souls. It is in that, by prayer, that mankind will find peace.

In one of the first messages the Blessed Mother said:

“I came to tell you that God exists … God sends me to you out of love that I may help you to comprehend that without Him there is no future or joy, and above all, there is no eternal salvation … through prayer you may become friends of Jesus … Without love you can not pray. That is why I am calling you to love God, the Creator of your lives, above everything else … Dear children! Pray, Pray, Pray!”

One day some people came to her to find out who the holiest person in the village was. To their chagrin (well for the Catholics) she said it was a Muslim woman who lived out her faith according to her conscience….

People of all religions go to Medjugorje and come away closer to God. They understand the importance of prayer and of living out the fruits of the Spirit. Many stay in their faith of birth, or if they are seekers, they still continue. Yet they leave with a deeper faith in God’s reality and love for them.

“I come to tell you that God exists”. In today’s world we need some ‘signs’ to give us hope and to continue in faith. What is happening in Medjugorje is one such sign for many.
