Oblate Program at Belmont Abbey, NC

Prayer for Vocations

It is the custom of the monks to pray for vocations each Wednesday just before Vespers. The following is the prayer that each Oblate and Oblate Novice is asked to pray each Wednesday at Vespers in union with monks at the Abbey. This is available in a prayer card. If you would like a card sent to you please let us know.

Lord, look with favor on the monastic family of Belmont Abbey. Uniting my prayer with theirs, I ask you to increase their numbers. I ask also that if someone from my own family is called to serve you in this way, that they will hear and generously respond to your call.

Grant this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Angel of the Lord declared to Mary:
And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.
Hail Mary …

Behold the handmaid of the Lord:
Be it done unto me according to Thy word.
Hail Mary …

And the Word was made Flesh:
And dwelt among us.
Hail Mary …

Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Pour forth, we beseech you, O Lord, your grace into our hearts; that we, to whom the incarnation of Christ, your Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection, through the same Christ Our Lord.
