The Miracle of the Sun

One of the best documented of modern day miracles was the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima, October 13, 1917. The miracle was well publicized before the event and there were numerous newspapers present. The Miracle itself was documented in the newspapers later and was witnessed by almost 70,000 people. The following video has put together photographs of the events at Fatima on that day in a time sequence. It is well put together and about five minutes long.

On this feast day of the first apparition of Our Lady of Fatima, perhaps it would do well to remember that God can and will act in a dramatic fashion when people of faith have need and prayerful seek His guidance. For those who wonder if there is a God or that God is dead, the Miracle of the Sun echos the scriptures “For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as the LORD our God is to us, whenever we call upon him?” (NRSV Deuteronomy 4:7)
