In five days, Running With Expanding Heart: Meeting God in Everyday Life by Sister Mary Reuter OSB will be released by Liturgical Press. It is being made available in both paperback ($14.95) and e-book ($9.95) versions. S. Mary served as prioress of Saint Benedict’s Monastery from 1989 to 1995. She currently teaches in the department of theology at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University, MN.
Sister Julian Upton RSM, Provost of Saint John’s University, NY, and member of The American Benedictine Academy, investigates the link between liturgy and social justice in Worship in Spirit and Truth: The Life and Legacy of H. A. Reinhold (Liturgical Press). “Using Reinhold’s words and ideas, Upton offers seven challenges for the on-going renewal of the Church’s worship: begin with the basics; foster active participation; collaborate!; read broadly and deeply; make room for mystagogy; shape a space for worship and devotion; and run while you have the light” (review by S. Kathleen Hughes RSCJ).
In March 2010 Liturgical Press will release Uncommon Gratitude: Alleluia for All That Is by Sister Joan Chittister OSB (Erie Benedictines) and Archbishop Rowan Williams. S. Joan says in her introduction, that “Life itself is an exercise in learning to sing ‘alleluia’ here in order to recognize the face of God hidden in the recesses of time. To deal with the meaning of ‘alleluia’ in life means to deal with moments that do not feel like ‘alleluia moments’ at all.” The Archbishop of Canterbury is acknowledged internationally as an outstanding theological writer, scholar, and teacher. Since becoming archbishop, Dr. Williams has focused more intently on contemporary cultural and interfaith issues. S. Joan has authored forty books, including her most recent, The Liturgical Year: The Spiraling Adventure of the Spiritual Life, published by Thomas Nelson.
