The fruit of prayer and struggle for healing

Dohle-prayer-journey-webPrayer is a great help towards healing. If prayer leads us to a simple regard for the presence of God, our inner struggles and wounds become more apparent, and often more painful, because they will repeatedly disrupt our inner seeking of God’s loving presence. Self knowledge that comes through prayer is usually a difficult process, so for most people, in their ongoing inner journey, there are stops and starts, falling back and beginning again. I believe that these are also a part of the healing process. Humility is hard won, but when it starts to take root, then it becomes easier to accept ones inner struggles, fragmentation, addictions. Life is hard, trauma is common, and our spiritual journey begins when we make a conscious choice to walk that path.
